Great Horned Owl at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado

Made it out to Lake Pueblo State Park in the early evening today. Though there were some clouds they generally did not interfere with the incredible light from the slowly setting Sun. Lots of bird activity though mostly at a distance. The best bird shot of the outing is today’s featured image of an Osprey launching from its perch. I also managed to spot a Great Horned Owl who was either asleep or just resting its eyes. After I had completed my usual round I decided to head on up to the top of Lake Pueblo Dam and see if I might be able to get a sunset shot of the Wet Mountains. Posted below is one of my captures. I got a lot of shots and I will try to figure a way to get them all posted.

Sightings:
Birds: Canada Geese, Mallards, Osprey, Gulls, Starlings, Cormorants, Redhead Ducks, Mourning Doves, Great Blue Heron, Belted Kingfisher, Great Horned Owl, Wood Ducks, American Coot, Pied-billed Grebe, Red-winged Blackbird, Kingbird
Critters: Squirrel

Gear: Nikon D5600, 55-300mm
