My outing this morning was a little unusual. When I got out of my car to start I immediately heard the unique chirp of an Osprey. It took a little looking about but I finally spotted the source pretty high up – an Osprey carrying a stick. Then I heard another Osprey who came into view and then another and then another. I guess today was some kind of Osprey festival because before I knew it there were eight Osprey circling high above the parking lot. They were really too high up to get a decent shot but I tried to grab a frame with multiple birds. Today’s featured image (above) is the best I could manage. Still it was amazing to see. Aside from this opening event the rest of the tour was pretty uneventful. The only other occurrences of note were a sighting of a Blue-winged Teal (below) which is a new bird for me and I saw a Franklin’s Gull (sorry, no picture) – another new bird. All in all, not a bad trip.

Sightings:
Birds: Canada Geese, Mallards, Osprey, Franklin’s Gull, Starlings, Cormorants, Redhead Ducks, Blue-winged Teal, Gadwalls, Great Horned Owl, American Kestrel, Flicker
Critters: Prairie Dog, Butterflies, Grasshoppers

Gear: Nikon D5600, 55-300mm
