Started out at 7:45 this AM in 50+ degree heat. Very calm and if there was a cloud in the sky I did not see it. What was in the sky was thousands of annoying insects who were for some reason being ignored by the Swallows. Flowers are starting to make an appearance along with the bugs – I guess they both need each other. Pictured above is some variety or other of Milkvetch.

The “excitement” today came in the addition of a new bird to my collection of sightings. The little guy shown below is, I believe, a Yellow-rumped Warbler – though I really didn’t get a look at his rump. Not the greatest bird photo ever shot but sufficient for making an ID.

Yellow-rumped Warbler at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado
This is my first confirmed sighting of a Yellow-rumped Warbler at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado. This kind of bird I usually relegate to the “flitty bird” category due to the difficulty of finding one sitting still long enough to photograph.

Sightings:
Birds: Osprey, Starlings, Robins, Flicker, Cormorant, Mallard Ducks, Western Meadow Lark, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Barn Swallows, Violet Green Swallows
Critters: None.

Gear: Lumix GX-85, 45-150mm
