Another terrific morning with what was probably the best light I’ve had all month. Fire haze was way down but is predicted to return this afternoon with a vengeance. I did manage to see a good variety of birds but had little opportunity to capture proof of that fact onto my camera’s memory card. The Osprey were busy flying around and the Blue Jays were really putting up a racket and generally being unsociable. I took a long shot of a Blue Grosbeak (left) who was singing a really complex song in the morning sun. Below is what could be a new bird for me – identified by Google as an Orange-crowned Warbler. The picture is pretty bad so I am not super confident in the ID. But it was the Mule Deer Fawns that took the prize of featured image for this morning. I first saw one of them (pictured below) checking out the Arkansas River but eventually the other one broke cover and they both spent a little time grazing in the sunshine. I never saw mom but I’m sure she was nearby.
