Conditions could not have been better than what I experienced this morning at Lake Pueblo State Park. I am also delighted with the number of Great Blue Herons who are scattered along the Arkansas River. One of them is today’s featured image. This photo was taken just seconds before the bird lifted off and headed downriver. Pictured here is an “action shot” of an Osprey pulling up from the river with an impressive looking catch.

Sightings:
Birds: Mallards, Double Crested Cormorants, Canada Geese, Gulls, Turkey Vulture, Ospreys, Starlings, Barn Swallows, Great Blue Herons, Common Grackles, Northern Flickers, Belted Kingfisher, Woodpeckers, Bushtits, Green Heron, Western Kingbirds
Critters: Grasshoppers, Mule Deer, Cabbage White Butterflies, Prairie Dogs
