American Bald Eagle at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado

My new friend, the Bald Eagle, was perched off the trail in about the same spot as yesterday. I decided to chance a little mud on my shoes and tromped out for a better shot. Fortunately this bird is not the skittish type and patiently waited for me to find a nice clear view. I guess he finally got bored with me because eventually this perch was abandoned and off it flew probably to give some other photographer a thrill. Today’s featured image is the bird in flight. Posted below is the takeoff. After all of this excitement the rest of my walk was pretty dull but still quite pleasant. That wayward American White Pelican is still resting on the Arkansas River but doesn’t really know how to pose for photographs. I’ll try to work with him.

Sightings:
Birds: Buffleheads, Goldeneye, Gulls, American Coot, Canada Geese, American White Pelican, American Bald Eagle, Belted Kingfisher
Critters: Tree Squirrels, Prairie Dogs, Mule Deer

Gear: Nikon D5600, 55-200mm
