Way too cold this morning for walking in the woods. Here is what was happening last year on this day.
Environment:
Start Time: 3:40 PM Temperature: 41 degrees Sky: Sunshine with slight breeze.
Air temperatures hit a tolerable level this afternoon so I hustled out to see how things were out on the trail. The trails are still a bit icy in spots but the mud was not as bad as I expected it to be. I saw two American Bald Eagles but only one came close enough to photograph. I did get a hawk – pictured here – but I can’t decide if it is a Red-tailed Hawk or something else. Today’s featured image is a Great Horned Owl who made photography as difficult as possible. I’m really shocked that I got it in focus.

Sightings:
Birds: Pied-billed Grebe, Gadwalls, Buffleheads, Gulls, Red-tailed (?) Hawk, Great Blue Heron, Great Horned Owl, American Bald Eagle, Starlings
Critters: Prairie Dog, Mule Deer
Gear: Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II, Lumix 100-300mm
