Pleasant conditions and very few other humans made today’s tour of Rock Canyon quite pleasant. Featured today is a little Bufflehead hen who was showing her stuff on the Arkansas River. There were quite a few Mule Deer roaming about. I caught the young buck pictured below moving confidently through the open space. Also pictured is a Townsend’s Solitaire. I was delighted to find two of the local long-legged waders actually wading in the fishing pond. These two Great Blue Herons were pretty active by heron standards though, sadly, they kept moving away from me.
