Conditions for walking and birding remain excellent in Rock Canyon. The Arkansas River is past its peak but is still flowing quickly. Geese and Cormorants are the birds brave enough to tough it out. The Osprey were busy today – pictured here is an adult arriving at the nest not with food, but repair material. Three kids can be rough on a house – good thing it is a rental. Over at the Red-tailed Hawk nest an Eyas was standing up and looking around. I’m still uncertain if this one is the only one. I was surprised to find all three of the juvenile Great Horned Owls back in their favorite tree. One of them is today’s featured image since it was the most active of the group.
