Environment:
Start Time: 6:35 AM Temperature: 63 degrees Sky: Sunlight. Healthy breeze.
Slightly more wildfire haze this morning but mostly sunny. The breeze was auditioning to be actual wind and I guess that was enough to keep most birds tucked into the foliage. The Osprey were out flying around but I didn’t see any fishing activity. One Osprey did a dive on a dead tree and snapped off a small branch. Instead of heading off to a nest he just flew around in a circle carrying the stick. Not sure what was going on. I also saw two Great Blue Herons fly by but they were flying faster than I have ever seen one of them fly before. Today’s featured image is a young Mule Deer Buck that I caught wading in the Arkansas River. I am not sure if he had crossed the river or not but he spent some time sloshing about. I have posted a photo of a Barn Swallow who was apparently taking a rest break. Below is a Double Crested Cormorant who was drying his wings in the morning Sun. I’m guessing he had been doing a little fishing. Also posted is a not-too-successful shot of a Mississippi Kite in flight. At least it is in focus.
