Yellow-breasted Chat at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado

Finally. A much needed Sun filled, cloud free morning. Maybe it was my imagination but I really thought the birds were singing louder than usual in celebration. Today’s featured image is what I believe to be family portrait of American Kestrels. If you look closely there are five of them and I’m guessing some are getting hunting lessons – they seem to have perching mastered. Pictured here is another Yellow-breasted Chat who was singing to the morning. With five Kestrels around I’m not sure that was the smartest thing to be doing. Below is one of my Barn Swallow friends sitting on its nest. I have to give them points for determination – this is the fourth nest this season. If it was me I’d try another location.
