One of the “bonus features” available on the Panasonic Lumix GX-85 (and probably on many other Panasonic mirrorless cameras) is the ability to digitally “extend” the focal length of the lens in use to allow for greater magnification of your subject with out a huge loss of detail. The image below is taken from the GX-85 manual and lays out the options. It is important to note that this function is NOT available when you are shooting RAW format images.

Panasonic Extended Tele Conversion Table
The Panasonic Extended Tele Conversion Table explains the magnification factors for the function based on the selected image size.

To demonstrate the effect this function has in an actual shooting situation I offer the three images below all taken from the same vantage point. The first is taken without any tele conversion on a Large size .jpg. The second is with a Medium size image (1.4 magnification factor) and the final one is a Small size image resulting in a 2x magnification of the subject. Note that with each increase in magnification you have to deal with a smaller sized .jpg file so be aware that the more you magnify the less you can enlarge when it comes time to print.
