Osprey at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado

Winter’s last full day turned out a little better than I expected. What started as an unremarkable walk ended with a bang when I spotted an Osprey perched over the Arkansas River which he was studying intently. He was a little soggy from what I assume was an unsuccessful fishing trip but apparently undaunted. In total I saw three Osprey which ins enough for me to declare Osprey Season officially open. As and added bonus I also spotted an American Bald Eagle cruising the park high overhead. Looks like Spring is getting off to a good start.

Sightings:
Birds: Mallards, Gadwall, Buffleheads, Gulls, Canada Geese, American White Pelican, Northern Flickers, Starlings, Osprey, American Bald Eagle, Pied-billed Grebe, American Coot, Great Blue Heron
Critters: Mule Deer, Tree Squirrel

Gear: Nikon D5600, 55-200mm
