Managed, once again, to hit the trail early in the morning. Conditions were favorable though there wasn’t a lot of activity at first. Things picked up when I passed by the Osprey nest being settled by those first two Osprey I saw last week. I caught the two of them in an intimate moment and got a few pictures which I will not share because HSC.com is “G” rated. A little further on I spotted a Cooper’s Hawk nestled deep into the branches of a tree. While trying to get a usable angle for a clear view he became bored with my antics and flew off – but not before I got a shot (posted below) of the exit. But the best came at the end. As I was driving out of the park I saw two Osprey actively working the fishing pond. I couldn’t decide whether to quickly park and run over to the pond or just stay in the car and enjoy the show. One of the birds made the decision for me by coming up with a good sized fish and heading for the trees to dine. The path he took followed the road so I just drove along until it decided on a likely spot to light. I pulled over and moved into position to capture the event. Today’s featured image is one of the many frames I managed to get.
