Osprey at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado

Very active and rather cool morning at Lake Pueblo State Park. Maybe the crisp Spring air got the birds out there working or perhaps the bright sunshine cheered them up – which is what got me out on the trail. Today’s featured image is what I believe to be the same Cooper’s Hawk that I shot a couple of days ago. This time Mr. (or Mrs.) Hawk was perched in the open soaking up the sunshine. I guess the big news is that the Swallows are coming back. There were quite a few of them swarming the air above the Arkansas River. I really couldn’t determine what type of Swallow they were but I did spot one Barn Swallow among the pack. I also saw my first Yellow-rumped Warbler today. This little guy was really tough to catch and the image posted below is the only shot I got. One (possibly) sad note – Pelican Pete was nowhere to be seen this morning.
