Wood Duck at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado

Out early again this morning mostly in hopes of beating the wind that will probably kick up again later. The trees are getting more and more leafy which can make bird photography even more challenging. Results of today’s photography are mostly the usual suspects with the exception of the two frames in the mini-gallery at the bottom of this post. Included there are the first Eastern Kingbird I’ve seen this year and the best shot I’ve ever gotten of a Yellow-rumped Warbler. I’m not sure but I think the warbler may have been injured. He was running around on the ground and allowed me to get pretty close. I asked him if he was OK but he gave no answer. For the featured image (above) I have a pair of Canada Geese who were having an animated, and quite vocal, discussion on a topic I could not discern.

Sightings:
Birds: Wood Ducks, Blue-winged Teal, Mallards, Canada Geese, Osprey, American Robins, European Starlings, Double-crested Cormorants, Yellow-rumbed Warbler, Bullock’s Orioles, Barn Swallows, Western Kingbird, Northern Flicker, Mourning Doves, Eastern Kingbird, Great Blue Herons, Wrens, Common Grackle, Turkey Vultures
Critters: Tree Squirrels, Mule Deer, Red Ants, lots of flying bugs
