Environment:
Start Time: 5:50 AM Temperature: 53 degrees Sky: Bright sunshine.
Conditions, weather-wise, just keep getting better and better. Things are looking up bird-wise as well. Pictured here are two flavors of Oriole that are now in the park. The top one is a Bullock’s Oriole and the bottom is an Orchard Oriole. The Orchards are a bit less common in these parts. Featured today is an Osprey making a graceful approach to a treetop perch following an unsuccessful splash into the fishing pond. I think it is that splash pictured below. I also managed to catch the juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron Perched contentedly along the Arkansas River. The swallow activity was pretty low and I saw something in the Red-tailed Hawk nest but I’m not sure what.
