Got to the river around 6:15 this morning as the sun was rising. Temperature of 52 with a slight breeze.
Upon arrival we were greeted with an amazing aerial show consisting of four Osprey actively fishing the Anticline Fishing Pond. They were swooping and diving and trying to steal each other’s catch. Sadly all of the best action was well out of reach for my 200mm lens but it was a real treat to watch.
The other two highlights for today’s walk was seeing a beaver swimming on the far bank of the Arkansas River and I got another (better) shot of the two Starling chicks that I shot yesterday. As far as nests go the Barn Swallow nest at the start of the trail was also being attended to but I have seen no hatch-lings yet.
