The Osprey put on quite a show at the Anticline Fishing Pond this morning. All the action took place just before the Sun cleared the canyon wall but I still managed to get a capture or two. There were four birds working the pond for several minutes which was quite exciting. Naturally today’s featured image is one of my (and the bird’s) better shots. The other really active bird group was the Northern Flickers. I caught a couple in what I think was a bit of courting (below) and one of those birds later struck a stately pose in the morning light. The Arkansas River is still pretty vacant, bird-wise, but I was surprised to see a couple of Common Mergansers hanging out on the far bank.
