It is Memorial Day here in the old U. S. of A. I’m wondering if that was why there was so little wildlife activity out on the trail at Lake Pueblo State Park this morning. Still, there was some good news. I captured my first Redheaded Woodpecker (featured) of the year. This one was hard at work pecking on the tree it was clinging to. I do not know if the hole in said tree is the bird’s actual nest but I will keep an eye on it. Also it appears that there is a baby Red-tailed Hawk (eyas) in the nest where I’ve been seeing an adult patiently waiting. I will now try to get closer but considering where the nest is located I may not be able to get a better view than the very long shot that I have. The Osprey were out and about but none seemed hungry enough to actually bother taking a dip in search of food.
