Climate conditions finally stabilized enough that I could get out to Lake Pueblo State Park this afternoon. It was chilly, though, as the image below illustrates. But there were a couple of nice surprises out there today. What I thought was a Redheaded Duck turned out to be a Canvasback (new bird for me) and there were a bunch of Common Goldeneye settling into the Arkansas River neighborhood. I saw three Great Blue Herons and quite a few Northern Flickers. Today’s featured image is what I believe to be a Red-tailed Hawk probably enjoying the absence of Osprey. I only caught a glimpse of a Great Horned Owl but I heard two or three conversing as the woods grew dark.
It was so cold today that even some of the trees were wearing gloves at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado November 15, 2022
