Environment:
Start Time: 6:40 AM Temperature: 53 degrees Sky: Sunshine.
There was not nearly as much activity out on the trail this morning as was on my last visit. The only Osprey I saw were either flying around or just perching in trees. I did see one with a fish but did not see the acquisition. Featured is one of the perched Osprey. I also spotted a couple of American Kestrels – one pictured here. I think the Kestrels were juveniles mostly because they were pretty vocal while bouncing around the tree branches. I also saw a Beaver swimming in the Arkansas River and managed to get a shot of it – see below.
Sightings:
Birds: Mallards, Double Crested Cormorants, Canada Geese, Gulls, Blue Jays, Ospreys, Starlings, Barn Swallows, Great Blue Herons, Common Grackles, Northern Flickers, Killdeer, Turkey Vultures, Doves, American Kestrels, Redheaded Woodpeckers
Critters: Grasshoppers, Mule Deer, Prairie Dogs, beaver, squirrel
