Lazy Hazy Days of Summer
Once again, what could have been a brilliant day for a walk in the woods was spoiled by very noticeable wildfire haze drifting in from the North. Pikes Peak, which I can normally see from Reservoir Road as I drive into the park, was not visible in a cloudless sky. I don’t know if I can legitimately blame the lack of animal activity on the haze but I’m going to anyway. My only real opportunities for bird photos came with a group of five or so Killdeer who were buzzing the Arkansas River. When I did manage to get one or two into my viewfinder the Nikon couldn’t lock focus and so would not even release the shutter when I stabbed at the button. So for today’s photographic offerings I give you today’s featured image which is a sunset scene shot September 7, 2018 looking East from the eastern border of Lake Pueblo State Park. I am also posting the scenic view below as an example of how badly the haze was affecting the the sky’s usually vibrant blue color.
