Mountain Plover at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado

Today’s walk was great as usual as far as walking goes. The birds were not as happy to be out today and spent most of their time bouncing in and out of sight – somehow knowing exactly the right (wrong) time to switch position. I was pretty bummed out when I got home with only one frame of a Killdeer perched on a rock in the Arkansas River. In fact I had pretty much decided to just write the day off and not even bother blogging about it. But I decided to go ahead and edit the one image I had. Well after cropping in on the bird I saw that it was not a Killdeer. So I dove into the internet as well as my trusty bird book settling on an identification of Mountain Plover. Another first sighting for my personal list! So I guess this was a successful walk after all.
