Environment:Start Time: 6:50 AM Temperature: 64 degrees Sky: Sunshine with few clouds. After a few days off for a holiday trip I am back on the trail. Very warm and sunny – so much so that I found myself wishing for one of those breezes that I complained about in February. Lake pueblo State Park seems to have survived the Fourth of July in pretty good shape. The only Osprey action I saw came from a group of four Western Kingbirds driving one of the bigger birds from its perch over the Arkansas River. Pictured below is my first close-up…

Environment:Start Time: 3:30 PM Temperature: 55 degrees Sky: Cloud filtered sunshine, little breeze As colder morning temperatures start to make their appearances in the Autumn I change my walking schedule to put me at Lake Pueblo State Park in the late afternoon. This is what happened today and, all in all, things went pretty well. On my way into the park I was struck by the late afternoon light that was falling onto Liberty Point so I pulled over and took one of the landscapes posted below. After that I continued on to my walk where I saw quite a…

Environment:Start Time: 8:10 AM Temperature: 53 degrees Sky: Clouds and Sun, little breeze. Rumors of Osprey Season’s end have been greatly exaggerated. I was very surprised this morning to see two Osprey perching over the Arkansas River. Today’s featured image is one of said Osprey. In fact, perching high up in the trees seemed to be the order of the day at Lake Pueblo State Park this morning (except for the Great Blue Heron who was wading in the river). All in all a pretty mellow Autumn morning. There were some Ducks in the river that I didn’t get close…

Environment:Start Time: 7:40 AM Temperature: 47 degrees Sky: Sunshine, few clouds, no breeze. Autumn’s crisp air very much present this morning at Lake Pueblo State Park. I don’t know if that was keeping all the birds snuggled in their beds but they were generally missing in action on the trail and in the air. So today’s featured image goes to a perched Osprey – the bird I got closest to today. Below is a rather disappointing image of two Blue Jays whom I caught scampering through the trees right at the end of my walk. I’m hoping that the migrating…
