Environment:Start Time: 7:25 AM Temperature: 50 degrees Sky: Sunshine, some clouds with little breeze. Another low activity day out on the trail. I think everyone is in line over at Culver’s for Mother’s Day breakfast with mom. One group, the Mule Deer, were out in force this morning. Pictured below is a group of ladies that were grazing on a little island in the stream of the Arkansas River. They are all looking a little ratty as their Summer coats push out the old Winter wear. The day’s featured image is a Bullock’s Oriole who was busy eating some bugs…

Environment:Start Time: 7:15 AM Temperature: 58 degrees Sky: Sun and clouds with light breeze Today was an OK day for a walk. There was sunshine but not a lot which helped keeping things cool. Today’s featured image is a Great Blue Heron sitting on the nest I’ve been keeping track of. I’m not sure if this means the nest is active because this is only the second time I’ve seen a heron on site. I’ll keep you posted. Two new additions to my personal sightings list – first a Phaon Crescent Butterfly (Google identification). Sorry about the poor photo quality…

Environment:Start Time: 6:40 AM Temperature: 65 degrees Sky: Sunshine few clouds light breeze Another clear and sunny morning at Lake Pueblo State Park. Much less cloud cover this morning and maybe a little less wildfire haze. I was not unaware of the warmth as I walked around the park. Even at a “cool” 65, once that sunlight hits you it makes an impression. There wasn’t a lot of excitement again this trip. Only three birds even gave me a chance at a shot and all are posted here. Today’s featured image is a Hairy Woodpecker who was the hardest of…

Environment:Start Time: 8:00 AM Temperature: 53 degrees Sky: Sunshine few clouds with a light breeze Got out a little earlier today to nearly ideal conditions though the trails are still a little muddy. The Arkansas River was quite high again this morning. Only a couple of Mallards and a Wood Duck couple were brave enough to try their luck on the swift water. The geese were huddled in groups on the river’s edge keeping a wary eye on me as I slowly passed keeping a wary eye on them. I heard a lot of unfamiliar bird calls today but really…
