Environment:Start Time: 3:30 PM Temperature: 50 degrees Sky: Sunshine. Super nice day out on the trail if you could ignore the mud. The Arkansas River is starting to get busy with a pretty nice variety of ducks splashing about like the Red-breasted Merganser pictured here. I did see several Great Blue Herons but only in the distance and none in the water. I spotted another Cooper’s Hawk but, unfortunately, it also spotted me. I finally made it out for a late afternoon stroll around the Osprey Picnic Area in Rock Canyon. Activity was pretty scarce. I heard at least two Great Horned Owls having a conversation but I could not spot their locations.
