Pretty mellow morning with only the Starlings and Mourning Doves out and about in force. Today’s featured image is of the seed clusters that are decorating most of the Cottonwood branches. Below is a shot of a Red-winged Blackbird snacking on one of the clusters and I saw a couple of Yellow-rumped Warblers doing the same. Environment:Start Time: 10:00 AM Temperature: 56 degrees Sky: Sunshine filtered by high clouds, intermittent breeze This is the first day of Winter but you wouldn’t know it by standing at the Anticline Fishing Pond at Lake Pueblo State Park. Snowshoes not required. The pond, which has been frozen over, is starting to thaw but not enough to attract any water fowl back to its calm water. Today’s featured image (above) is a “scenic” shot from the trail along the banks of the Arkansas River. Still some leaves hanging on despite yesterdays buffeting wind. Environment:Start Time: 8:00 AM Temperature: 56 degrees Sky: High clouds hindered the Sun, gloomy Kind of an iffy day. Very gloomy flat light – I almost didn’t come out this morning. But I did and I am glad I did. There was much more bird activity today compared to yesterday as the Sightings box demonstrates.
