Environment:Start Time: 3:30 PM Temperature: 46 degrees Sky: Mix of Sun and clouds, light breeze Another stretch of unpleasant weather has ended allowing me to get out to Lake Pueblo State Park to asses the situation. Things are looking good – trees are starting to bud and, even though it snowed yesterday, most of the snow had melted already and it was not as muddy on the trails as I thought it would be. Besides the budding trees another harbinger of Spring made it’s presence known – American Robins were out in force. One in particular (the three photos posted…

Environment:Start Time: 10:25 AM Temperature: 58 degrees Sky: Mix of Sun and clouds, light breeze Spring-like weather is persisting and will so for most of the week ahead. Local weather forecasters are promising us a snowy Saturday. Not at all unusual weather for March in Southeastern Colorado. Birds are still playing hard to get but activity is picking up. I could hear a number of unfamiliar bird calls and a couple of recognizable (by me) ones. There were Blue Jays about to be sure. I also heard a Belted Kingfisher. Aside from using my zoom lens to ID some of…

July 08, 2020 Part 2

After taking a look out of my kitchen window around 7:45 PM and seeing a sky with tremendous potential to deliver some dramatic scenic vistas, I grabbed my camera (and Whisper) and we made a beeline for Lake Pueblo State Park. I have to admit that I did not get the picture that I had in mind, though I might have if I’d set up shop on the South end of the dam instead of the North end, I think I still got some great shots. Featured image above and all those below were captured with the Nikon. All in…

No clouds this morning. None. Not even any of those little whispy ones you sometimes see near the mountain tops. We started out in 57 degree temp in a very light breeze. Even this low temp at 6:40 in the morning became less and less comfortable as the sun rose ever higher throughout our walk. The later start on our walk was because of a distraction that arose as we were driving out to the park. That distraction was an amazing full moon that was close to setting over the Wet Mountains. Instead of going straight to our walking grounds…

Super Moonset

This morning it was all hands on deck! Clear, calm weather and a Super Moon nearing the horizon. Up at 6 AM and set up to shoot on the dam at Lake Pueblo State Park before 6:30. I had my three main cameras hanging from anyplace I could hang them. I set up my Olympus E-1 to try a time lapse series of the moon setting. I have to work on that today and it may or may not be blogged at a future date. No promises. Next I had my Panasonic Lumix GX85 which I brought to try some…
