Environment:Start Time: 3:00 PM Temperature: 73 degrees Sky: Sunshine. Conditions out at Lake Pueblo State Park continue to be excellent. The bird activity is even getting a little better. Today’s featured image is a Red-tailed Hawk who flew in at the treetop level just as the Sun was nearly set creating the intense show of colors on the bird’s undercarriage. I also caught a female Belted Kingfisher darting between the banks of the Arkansas River in search of a late afternoon snack. Environment:Start Time: 7:40 AM Temperature: 74 degrees Sky: Sun filtered by light wildfire haze, hard breeze Still hazy this morning even with the sometimes considerable breeze/wind that was kicking up. One thing in the wind’s favor is that it brought out a group (don’t know when to use Flock) of four Osprey reeling high up in the sky obviously enjoying the currents. A slightly late start put us at our usual outing site right around 6:20 this morning. Fifty-eight degrees, sunshine and a slight breeze were all there to greet us. I saw four Osprey circling and riding the air currents coming off a bluff while I was driving into the park. I was hoping they might migrate over to the Anticline Fishing Pond once I was parked and ready to shoot. Apparently they had other plans. The other “swarm” of aerial bird action today was to be found over the Arkansas River in the form of Swallows, Swallows and more Swallows….
