The trees were filled with bird chatter and the Starlings were flitting all over the place but really there was not much bird activity this morning. I did come home with some interesting pictures despite the avian drought. First off I surprised a mother Wood Duck who was giving duck lessons to her brood of nine and so managed the photo posted below. Activity, both human and animal, was surprisingly low for a Friday. I guess the stars of today have to be Wood Ducks. Environment:Start Time: 8:15 AM Temperature: 49 degrees Sky: Sunny with clouds; light breeze Out early again trying to photograph that early bird getting the worm. Also I was trying to beat the predicted cloudy/windy conditions expected later today. Plenty of birds out doing bird stuff. It looks like the Starlings are getting set up for the season – lots of movement in and out of nests. Today’s featured image is a pair of Wood Ducks in the Arkansas River.
