I have long considered the Mourning Dove, the most abundant type of bird in America, to be nothing more than a Pigeon. This is why I was not including them in the Sightings section of my hiking blog posts nor have I ever photographed them at all. Well, I have recently done some reading and it seems that, though Mourning Doves are Pigeon like, they are somehow not Pigeons. Therefore, I have begun (in Mid May 2020) to include them in the list of bird sightings in my posts. If I see a full blooded Pigeon you will never hear about it.
