Another New Bird Identified

The string of gorgeous mornings continued today. I had high hopes for bird photography too, since I had seen Turkeys, a Turkey Vulture and a Red-tail Hawk before we even got out of the car. And I was not disappointed by those feathered subjects that presented themselves while I was out of the car and outfitted for the task of capturing them (on a memory card.) My mindset today was to concentrate on smaller birds and I particularly wanted to see if I could get a better shot of a Sandpiper than I got yesterday. This goal led me to walk right along the northern bank of the Arkansas River directly south of the Fishing Pond. Sadly no Sandpipers were to be seen and the Killdeer that I saw were all on the opposite river bank. So as I worked my way back up to the trail I detected something rustling in the branches of a nearby bush. The rustler turned out to be a House Wren who really slipped up and sat still long enough for me to get a clear shot at him. Then as I continued on I got today’s featured image (above) of a Savannah Sparrow who was also carelessly sitting still. I confess that when I took the shot I thought I was shooting a Field Sparrow and it was only after checking the picture in Google Lens that I discovered that I had added another bird to my personal sightings list.
