Environment:
Start Time: 7:10 AM Temperature: 60 degrees Sky: Haze filtered sunshine.
Today’s walk had a bit of an Autumn feel with a bit of a cooler starting temperature. The sunshine had to blaze through a bit of wildfire haze mixed with humidity but provided some nice light anyway. The featured Summer scenic image is an example of that light. Soft but brilliant. The Ospreys were as busy as ever – flying around and arguing over perching rights. Pictured here are a couple of Double Crested Cormorants sharing what has become this year’s gathering spot after their first choice fell into the Arkansas River earlier in the Summer. One surprising event was when I saw a Cooper’s Hawk chasing a smaller bird through the sky. The hawk, having obviously missed on the initial attack was now forced into pursuit, eventually failed to secure its meal. The Redheaded Woodpeckers were also out today. The youngster is turning into an accomplished flier – pictured at the post bottom.
