Another very quiet day at the park. I could literally hear crickets chirping in the brush. Still a pleasant day for a walk though toward the end it was getting a little warm. Really only two lucky breaks this morning. Number one – today’s featured image of an Osprey leaping into flight (and in focus). The other break was capturing the Sharp-shinned Hawk posted below. I think this might be a juvenile because he was hopping around looking at things as though for the first time. I took quite a few shots – only a few of which are usable do to the deep shade he was sitting in. I’m really glad I made it out this morning.
Sightings:
Birds: Mallards, Osprey, Barn Swallows, Double Crested Cormorants, Canada Geese, Mourning Doves, Great Horned Owl, Common Grackle, Starlings, Sharp-shinned Hawk, Wood Ducks, Blue Jay, Eastern Kingbird
Critters: Cabbage Butterflies, Prairie Dogs, Widow Skimmer, Mule Deer
