Belted Kingfisher at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado

I’m starting to really like these late afternoon walks and things are starting to pick up along the Arkansas River. Posted below is a group of Bufflehead Ducks settling themselves in for the Winter. I also had a great session with a Belted Kingfisher who I caught making a strike on the river and captured him with his catch shortly thereafter. Not award winning photography but serviceable. I saw another Mule Deer Buck who was, again, headed back into the Prairie with what looked like a smile on his face. Today’s featured image is another portrait of Liberty Point – this time in the late afternoon light.

Sightings:
Birds: Mallards, Common Goldeneye, Buffleheads, Gulls, Canada Geese, Starlings, American Robin, Dark-eyed Juncos, White-crowned Sparrow, Sparrows, Northern Flicker, Black-capped Chickadee, Belted Kingfisher
Critters: Prairie Dogs, Mule Deer

Gear: Nikon D5600, 55-200mm
