Environment:Start Time: 8:15 AM Temperature: 54 degrees Sky: Sunny with few clouds; heavy breeze Made an early start once again this morning. Weather predictions are for record April heat today and gusty winds. The most interesting bird activity happened right at the start of my walk. There was a Red-tailed Hawk perched up on one of the (too) many power lines that cut across the park. Environment:Start Time: 8:25 AM Temperature: 57 degrees Sky: Intermittent Sun, Wildfire Haze, No Breeze Today’s outing started on a odd and somber note. I lost my little walking buddy, Whisper, on the morning of the 19th. So I am now walking alone and it feels strange. After some deliberation I finally decided to head out for a walk this morning. Things weren’t looking good. Cloudy sky with intermittent sun and a really stiff breeze (wind) were waiting for us at the park. Not to mention the 75 degree temperature which the warm wind did nothing to mitigate. Mostly sunny this morning with some clouds which are predicted to take over later today. According to my memory, always suspect, when we started out today at 6:10 the temperature was 62 degrees. When we were driving out I noticed that the temp (according to my car) was 60 degrees. I do not think the temp had dropped while we were walking so I am not sure what temperature to report. Got a much earlier start this morning thanks to clear skies and warm 53 degree temperature. Got started right at 6:15. Just like yesterday there was only a single Osprey working the fishing pond this morning. He was not putting on the same type of show as in previous mornings. Today he was perched high in a tree possibly digesting the days catch. Other than that it was a pretty uneventful walk. Both the Heron nest and Starling nest that I have been keeping tabs on showed no signs of activity. I think the baby Starlings may have already fledged…

Got going earlier and was on site at 7 AM. The moderately cloudy sky made the mid-forties temp seem pretty cool. With the sun popping in and out of the clouds lighting was iffy at best. The birds were not out in force this morning. I did get to see a couple of Northern Orioles and a Blue Jay whom I attempted to photograph. He was so far out in the weeds that the result was less than spectacular. I was glad to be shooting with the Nikon today as I at least got the bird somewhat in focus. I…
