Environment:Start Time: 6:00 AM Temperature: 61 degrees Sky: Sunny. Having managed to get out to Lake Pueblo State Park with the rising Sun I am really starting to wonder where all the Early Birds are. Is there a worm shortage? Once again, today’s walk ended up with mostly smaller birds burned onto my memory card and even they made it tough. I did see a couple of the Cooper’s Hawk kiddos but they are expanding their range of activity and improving their ability to not be seen. So the featured image for today is a Lesser Goldfinch that I caught…

Environment:Start Time: 9:45 AM Temperature: 46 degrees Sky: Sunshine ,no clouds with mild breeze Yet another warmish morning lured me out for an early stroll along the Arkansas River. Of course, I wanted to partake of all the eagles that have been hanging around lately. There were eagles but they were not doing much except perching in hard to photograph locations. I did manage to ambush one and a front and back view is posted below. There were quite a few woodpeckers flitting around today – both Hairy and Downy. Posted here is what I think is a Hairy Woodpecker….

Environment:Start Time: 2:40 PM Temperature: 49 degrees Sky: Sunshine, few clouds, light breeze. Yet another terrific day to be out in nature. A lot more of the smaller birds were active today as you can tell by the “small” gallery posted below. I was also using a more appropriate camera today than I was yesterday – but it was still heavy. Instead of a featured image I am trying to sneak in a featured video – hopefully posted above. If you can’t see it here on HSC.com try viewing it here. What it is is a group of ducks –…

Environment:Start Time: 6:50 AM Temperature: 64 degrees Sky: Sunshine, light haze few clouds I was greeted upon my arrival at Lake Pueblo State Park this morning with silence. When I got out of the car there was practically no sounds to be heard. Certainly no birds. It was weird. It was a little humid and the relative lack of wildfire haze really allowed the Sun’s radiant heat to bear down. Maybe this heat was keeping everyone subdued. Even though I did see a nice variety of birds I only managed a portraits and none were all that good. Today’s featured…
