Environment:Start Time: 6:55 PM Temperature: 62 degrees Sky: Sunshine, clouds with light breeze An ugly morning led to a late afternoon outing at Lake Pueblo State Park. Though the bird activity was less than frantic I managed to get the best look at the little Great Horned Owlet so far – today’s featured image. I think he is outgrowing the nest. July 29, 2020

The sun is coming up later these days so we are getting started later. This morning it was 6:30 with a very pleasant 64 degrees. Not many clouds and a slight breeze made for a very pleasant hike. It’s a good thing the walk was a pleasant one (and well worth the trip out) because nothing was happening in the photography department. Featured image above and all those below were captured with the Nikon. All in…

Probably my favorite area to haunt in Southern Colorado is in and around the little town of Westcliffe. I have been finding myself exploring there since the 1970s. Back then it was a sleepy little cow town with a few shops, a restaurant (Susie’s), a grocery store, a post office and a small cinema. Since then the population has grown and the town has tried to reinvent itself as a tourist destination with shopping and skiing. Agriculture and cattle ranching have been consistent aspects through the years. Back in the ’70s I was shooting film and lugging a Mamiya RB67…
