Environment:Start Time: 3:25 PM Temperature: 59 degrees Sky: Cloud filtered sunshine with light breeze. The last day of November closed out in a spectacular display of color. Fortunately I showed up today with the my wide angle kit intending to get some scenic shots before every last leaf has abandoned its tree. I started a little late today and the Sun was setting on me when I noticed that the clouds in the West were teasing what could be another beautiful sunset. So after shooting a few typical scenic images posted here and below, I hustled up to my favorite…

Environment:Start Time: 6:55 PM Temperature: 62 degrees Sky: Sunshine, clouds with light breeze An ugly morning led to a late afternoon outing at Lake Pueblo State Park. Though the bird activity was less than frantic I managed to get the best look at the little Great Horned Owlet so far – today’s featured image. I think he is outgrowing the nest. After that there was not many birds looking to be photographed. Since the Sun was going down I headed up to the top of the Lake Pueblo Dam and tried a few sunset scenic views. One of those (better…

Environment:Start Time: 5:45 PM Temperature: 57 degrees Sky: Mostly sunny with fluffy clouds, light breeze Made it out to Lake Pueblo State Park in the early evening today. Though there were some clouds they generally did not interfere with the incredible light from the slowly setting Sun. Lots of bird activity though mostly at a distance. The best bird shot of the outing is today’s featured image of an Osprey launching from its perch. I also managed to spot a Great Horned Owl who was either asleep or just resting its eyes. After I had completed my usual round I…

The sun is coming up later these days so we are getting started later. This morning it was 6:30 with a very pleasant 64 degrees. Not many clouds and a slight breeze made for a very pleasant hike. It’s a good thing the walk was a pleasant one (and well worth the trip out) because nothing was happening in the photography department. The best shot I (almost) had was of one of the Osprey adults in the nest but s/he flew off as I approached. So I am compelled to reach back into my archive and post a couple evening…

July 08, 2020 Part 2

After taking a look out of my kitchen window around 7:45 PM and seeing a sky with tremendous potential to deliver some dramatic scenic vistas, I grabbed my camera (and Whisper) and we made a beeline for Lake Pueblo State Park. I have to admit that I did not get the picture that I had in mind, though I might have if I’d set up shop on the South end of the dam instead of the North end, I think I still got some great shots. Featured image above and all those below were captured with the Nikon. All in…

Once again I tried my luck on an evening hike. Unfortunately I did not get the spectacular sky that I did two nights ago. Still it was a pleasant enough evening with a few solid sightings. once we had done our normal tour I drove us over to the Osprey Picnic Area to check in on the Heron’s nest that I have discovered over there. The nest seemed to be occupied so I tried sneaking up for a closer shot. On doing so I spooked three other Herons from a neighboring tree that I had not seen at all (the…
